On-Site Sewage Facilities (OSSF) Permitting Applications

  • Under Title 30 Texas Administrative Code (TAC) Chapter 30 and 285, the TCEQ provides a comprehensive regulatory program for the management of OSSFs, as prescribed by the Texas Health and Safety Code, Chapter 366. These rules establish minimum standards for planning materials, construction, installation, alteration, repair, extension, operation, maintenance, permitting, and inspection of OSSFs. In addition, these rules provide the procedures for the designation of local governmental entities as authorized agents and establish requirements for the licensing of installers, designated representatives, and site evaluators and the registration of apprentices as included in Title 30 TAC Chapter 30 (relating to Occupational Licenses and Registrations). Please note, the unauthorized discharge of effluent into or adjacent to the waters in the state is prohibited.
  • On December 7, 2016, the TCEQ adopted changes to the OSSF rules which can be found on the TCEQ website at: On-Site Sewage Facility (OSSF) Rules Compilation
